Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 June 2026. This policy explains how we handle your personal information.

CalmBench (“CalmBench”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. We comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, the EU/UK GDPR. We collect only what we need to run our shop and answer your enquiries.

1. Who we are

We are the data controller for the information you share with us. You can reach our privacy contact using the details in section 9.

2. What we collect

  • Information you give us — your name, email address, message content and any details you include when you use our contact form or email us.
  • Order information — if you place or enquire about an order, the items, delivery address and any notes you provide.
  • Technical information — basic, mostly anonymous data such as your browser type, device, and pages viewed, gathered through cookies (see our Cookie Policy).

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and we do not collect special-category data.

3. How we use it

  • To respond to your enquiries and provide customer care.
  • To process, fulfil and support orders and the 60-night trial.
  • To improve our website, products and service.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we will only send marketing email if you have explicitly opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent (e.g. optional analytics cookies and marketing); the performance of a contract (handling your order); our legitimate interests (running and securing our business); and legal obligations. Under PIPEDA we rely on your meaningful consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

5. Sharing & processors

We share information only with trusted service providers who help us operate, such as web hosting, email, payment and shipping partners. They may only use it to provide their service to us. Some may process data outside Canada; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection. We may also disclose information where required by law.

6. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (for example, tax records are kept for the legally required period). Enquiry messages are typically deleted within 24 months unless an ongoing relationship requires otherwise.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, update or delete your personal information, withdraw consent, object to or restrict certain processing, or request a portable copy. To exercise any right, contact us using section 9 and we will respond within the timeframe required by law. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you have an unresolved concern.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational safeguards — encryption in transit, access controls and limited retention — to protect your information. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to keep risk low and will notify you and the relevant authorities of any breach as required.
